- Malcolm X, an African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist. After becoming a leader in the Nation of Islam and promoting black supremacy and the separation of black and white Americans, he went through a conversion to Sunni Islam and condemned the Nation of Islam’s beliefs. He embraced black self-determination and self-defense, and the solidarity of all people of African descent. His life ended when he was assassinated by three members of the Nation of Islam. (1925-1965)
