CIRCLE WALKS™ is a nationwide movement that inspires people to move more.  CIRCLE WALKS™ is available at no cost and it requires no special equipment.   CIRCLE WALKS™ can be launched in the following seven easy steps:

  1. Complete the short sign-up form at the bottom of the page.

  2. Create and measure a safe walking route.

  3. Create walking circles of 2 to 6 people – with more people, create a new circle.

  4. Select a daily time and distance to walk that is agreeable with everyone in the walking circle.

  5. Do CIRCLE WALKS™ as many days as possible.

  6. Track daily progress and report your walking circle’s performance at the end of the contest. The           Reporting Form can be found on the website under the Programs tab.

  7. Achieve a One to Five Star level of performance and be recognized for your achievement!

 

CIRCLE WALKS™ benefit people in many ways, including:

CIRCLE WALKS™ only counts the steps or distance achieved on the daily CIRCLE WALKS™. It does not count all steps, or the total distance accumulated, for an entire day. However, multiple CIRCLE WALKS™ can be completed and counted as a daily total.

 

CIRCLE WALKS™ promotes four 12-week competitions each calendar year. Recognition is given at the end of each 12-week period, as well as at the end of the calendar year.  Achievement is based on the circle’s average daily individual step count, or distance achieved. Here’s an example of a 5-person circle who walked a total of 450 miles during the 12-week (60 day) contest = 450 divided by 60 = 7.5 miles per day. 7.5 miles per day divided by 5 people = 1.5 miles per person per day. This would qualify them for “3-Star” recognition. Multiple circle walks can be taken each day and counted toward the day’s total distance. If a circle member misses a walk, a “0” should be recorded for that person. If a person misses 30 days or more, they can be excluded from the circle’s totals (in the previous example, you would only count 4 of the 5 circle members’ totals). At the end of each contest, the circle’s average daily individual step count, or distance achieved, is reported at: http://www.leanwellness.us/contact.

CIRCLE WALKS™ participants that partake in at least 3 of the 4 calendar year contests qualify for national recognition. Daily average achievement levels are as follows:

            1-Star               1,000 steps, or ½ mile

            2-Stars             2,000 steps, or 1 mile

            3-Stars             3,000 steps, or 1.5 miles

            4-Stars             4,000 steps, or 2 miles

            5-Stars             6,000 steps, or 3 miles

 

The 12-week competitions for 2017 - 2018 CIRCLE WALKS™ are scheduled as follows:

           

            3rd Quarter 2017      July 2, 2017 – September 23, 2017

            4th Quarter 2017     October 1, 2017 – December 23, 2017

            1st Quarter 2018       January 1, 2018 - March 25, 2018

            2nd Quarter 2018     April 2, 2018 - June 24, 2018

            3rd Quarter 2018      July 2, 2018 – September 23, 2018

            4th Quarter 2018     October 1, 2018 – December 23, 2018
